The Noughties
The end of an era.

Soon it will be the end of the decade and the end of the noughties 2010 will reveal the tens, how was the naughties for you?
Well it was the start of a new millennium the 21st century and of course the millennium bug that never was, or Y2K as it came to be know,
We had earthquakes in El Salvador killing over 800 people and another in India this time killing over 12000 people, Tony Blair becomes the British prim minster (Another disaster) Jeffrey Archer was sentenced to 4 years in prison, almost 3000 are killed at the world trade Centre, Perry Como, John Lee Hooker, Jack Lemmon and Chet Atkins die
In Tanzania 281 people are killed in the worse rail accident in African history, a passenger ferry capsizes in Gambia killing 1863 people the space shuttle disintegrates killing all 7 astronauts, an earthquake in Algeria kills 2200 people, 500,000 people are with out power in the southeast of England after an electricity blackout, the Concorde makes its last commercial flight, the use of hand held cell phone is made illegal in UK, Facebook is founded, Ronald Reagan dies, Chechen terrorists imprison around 1500 in Russia, Ubuntu OS is released, one of the worlds worst ever disasters kills over 187,000 people with 40,000 still missing when an earthquake starts a tsunami.
Pope John Paul 11 dies, as does Rover UK Car Company, Hurricane Katrina kills thousands, Blu-ray is released, Betty Hutton and John Inman die.
Just think 2010 (I pronounce it Twenty Ten) will bring The Olympic Games in Vancouver and the world cup in South Africa. And that’s just year one
. Have a safe and peaceful decade….who knows what it will bring?

Thanks for the summary. I’m sure everything you put in there were dozens you chose to leave out. Well done.

Hopefully 2010 will bring lots of blessings for everyone. As far as 2009, it was horrible for many people. Hopefully, the job market will get better soon. Michael Jackson passed away and now this 32 year old Brittany Murphy. I have to read more about her. Her death is so weird.

No year is good
Nor bad equally
For all
For some it’s good
Some make stories tall
Each year has its own
Merits and demerits for all
Some gain love
Some lose it too,
What was the year gone past
Twas only for you
Yet we hope the next one
Will be better still
Hope it will
Not have memories
We’d wish to kill.
Happy 2010 to all of us
Without any fuss,
Let’s usher in a New Year again
Who knows who will go?
Yet who still will remain.
