The Post Modern Generation
The concept of modern is opposed to the concept of tradition. Modern is for instance a new technology and tradition a culture that helps to cope with a situation. Most people have a dilemma between tradition and modern.
The older generation is often more traditional than the new generation. The seniors tend to go back to tradition because they are deceived by the modern world which is always changing and not preserving nature. The new generation likes to taste and to test new technologies that easy their ways of living for instance new cellular phones. Tradition and modern concepts go together and this era should agree with this.
So, tradition and modern are concepts that are important because it is from the past that we build our present and our future. The disciplines of tradition are for example ethnology and history. Ethnology is the science of folklores. The United States of America a multicultural society like Canada has promoted extensively and at a large scale folklores and this can be testified by the American Cultural Centres who helped educated thousands and millions of students in Africa who held important positions in the last century. History is a science which is the memory of the past. There are those who do not want to know their past and those who because of their past are stronger. In medicine it is better to know about the past in order to know how to handle with the situation.
As a matter of fact, evoking tradition leads us to think about tolerance. Their are traditions for instance which have prescriptions with regards to weddings. In France, the parents of the bride offer a bed to the newly wed, in India the bride has a red dot on her forehead. In Burundi, the newly wed take three days off and at the end there is a party with dances. In America, the new couple go for a honey moon in the Isles for examples for sunshine destinations.
Thus, tradition is often a concept that develops in the family. It is usually the mother who teaches traditions to the children and this helps the father to understand the children. The father in this situation is often the first modern person in the family because he is most of the time the most educated and the one that allows the children to use modern concepts and to not be tempted by modern aspects of society that can harm them.
Therefore, tradition is not a bad thing. The problem is that some societies are reluctant to let other cultures know about their traditions. That is why there are ethnologists or anthropologist who travel to find how other societies cope with hardships or live on natural foods. Anthropology is the science of human kind. Anthropology was very important during the last century and human development is one of th important concepts of the World Bank which revolutionalized the field of research studies. The World Bank is an agency of the United Nations Organisation which was created to reconstruct our planet after the Second World War.
Thus children have to know their tradition. That is how they will be able to make wise choices. Most of the children who know their traditions feel more comfortable because they have something to offer to others. For instance knowing how to cook traditonal foods and to dress traditionally is important. There are recipes which are well known for example the paella from Spain, which is made of sea food, rice and vegetable. Sea food is found in abundance in Spain which is in the Iberic peninsula with Portugal one of the important resources in fishermen.
