The Real Homophobes

The Bible thumper and the others who make it very clear they find homosexuality perverted are not the problem.

The problem are those who mouth ‘politically correct’ verbiage, but are more homophobic than a fundie.  Getting them to come out of the woodwork is not impossible, it just takes a little effort.

The reason why you need true homophobes to betray themselves is to prevent being stabbed in the back. And any gay/lesbian person who turns their back on these ‘there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality’ homophobes will be stabbed in the back.

Last year  I published a little interview with Keith Hamilton Cobb; within a few months it attracted hundreds of the most disgusting comments one can imagine.  Disgusting, not because they contained obscenities or threats, but because they betrayed the true feelings of persons who would begin their diatribe with; “I am not a homophobe” and then go on and on about how this actor could never be gay in such manner that they would prefer him dead than involved with another man.

I began deleting the comments, then took down the article for a few days, then reposted it.  There had been a lot of hits from various Gay blogs, and under each of them, a homophobe had written some tripe about the article not being true, that Keith wasn’t Gay.   One homophobe claimed to be Mrs. KHC  and had run through every site she could find to claim that he wasn’t Gay.

Now why should anyone care if a person they don’t know is Gay or not unless they are so homophobic that they can’t bear the thought of some actor being ‘that way’.

It wasn’t three or four such comments, it was hundreds, maybe written by same persons, but the effort they put into this ‘disclaimer’ was enormous.

Why?

Because they are the worst kind of homophobe.  The kind who makes Gays and Lesbians believe that they have a following, when what they have is a bunch of hypocrites who are mouthing phrases they don’t for one second believe.
