The Revolutionary Period in The 19th Century
The massive changes made to the infrastructure of the United States during the first half of the 19th century.
Manufacturing was dramatically becoming more popular in the Northeast. This could not have been done without the efforts put in by the federal government, state governments and certain private backers. Although, the federal and state governments did not invest in the expansion of manufacturing as much as the private financers did, the federal and state government did encourage it greatly in the Northeast. When the federal government purchased the Louisiana Purchase, it gave America a better chance for the development of manufacturing. It did so because farmers were put out of business because farms in the Northwest were more productive and this meant they were forced to convert to manufacture workers or owners. Furthermore, the private backers were the ones to fund most of the Manufacturing, because they owned most of the factories.
Conclusively, private financers played an important role in the development of the American economy during the first half of the 19th century as much as state and federal governments did. The State and Federal governments and Private backers helped with increasing the efficiency of transportation in the United States. As well, they helped with creating a stronger manufacturing economy in the United States, this allowed for goods to be produced faster and transported faster to the masses.
