The statue was given by the people of France as a sign of friendship between the two countries, France and the United States of America.

The statue represents an image of a woman, wearing a stola, a radiant crown, and sandals and trampling a broken chain. She carries a torch that is raised in her right hand and a tabula ansata tablet in her left arm. In the tablet inscribed the date of the American independence JULY IV MDCCLXXVI. The statue of Liberty is standing in Liberty Island in the Harbor of New York City.(inmotion coupon)
It was sculptured by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. He obtained a U.S patent for it.

The statue stands atop a rectangular stonework pedestal. It has a foundation with the shape of an irregular eleven-pointed star. The height of the statue is about 151 feet of 46 meters. Including the pedestal and foundation, it measures a height of 305 feet or 93 meters tall.
This Statue was known throughout the world as the most recognizable icon of the United States of America.,
