The Three Wars

The Three main American wars.

The three main wars of the United State of America shaped the country in the most literal meaning and as a culture. The American Revolution was the war that started it all. The civil war tested this great nation at its very core. And World War II not only brought America to the fore-front of technology but also shaped the world to what it is today.

The colonies of Britain were thriving and gaining much wealth and esteem from the other countries they were selling to, but they were not selling enough to Britain, the Mother Country and Britain did not look kindly on this. The British did not treat the colonies as they treated the people in the home land. This started tension between the colonies and Britain. As time progressed the British government decided to tax various items to bring in more money for their treasury. The colonies were outraged at this and protested that there should be no taxation without representation. This caused the tension to evolve to the point that aggressive acts were taken towards Britain. This caused Britain to send troops to the colonies. This only fueled the fires of hate. The colonies sent men to represent them in a meeting that determined that they should free themselves from the shackles of tyranny.

The American Revolution was from 1775 to 1781. It started as colonist fighting for they rights and ended with patriots fighting for their country. The American congress in 1776 declared their freedom from the tyrannical British. This act flung the new nation into a war they were neither equipped nor truly ready for, but this did not stop the gears of war from turning. With relatively competent generals they stood their ground at least long enough for the British to see them. But on Christmas 1776 the colonial army struck a blow to the British that sent a message that the United Sates of America was not simply going to roll over and play dead. The fighting continued as the American army continued to increase in experience, the British seemed to stall out and soon was divided. With the British general Cornwallis separated from Clinton, and the American army soon cornered Cornwallis at Yorktown and forced him to surrender. This was the decline of the war for the British.  With a major player taken out of the picture, the war was quick to end and the birth of our nation was fulfilled.
