The Ulsterman Report: Tony Rezko Update

Federal prosecutors signal October 21st will remain the sentencing date for one of Barack Obama’s strongest personal and political allies.

(Then President-Elect Barack Obama confering with former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich)

Based upon a just published report from the Chicago Tribune, it appears that to this point, Tony Rezko will finally receive his sentence some three years after being found guilty of a myriad of crimes ranging from extortion to money laundering.  The once powerful Chicago political fundraiser, who helped propel Barack Obama’s meteoric political rise and even assisted Obama in the purchase of a Chicago home in one of the city’s most elite neighborhoods, could potentially spend the next decade or two in jail.

The repeated delays in the Rezko sentencing were said to be related to the Rod Blagojevich trial - federal prosecutors indicated they were holding off on Rezko’s sentencing due to the possibility of Rezko being called as a witness in the Blago trail.  Rezko was never called.  Blagojevich is scheduled for his own sentencing on October 6th.

Political insiders have speculated deals between both Rezko and Blago were already initiated some time ago, and that the parameters of their respective sentencing would provide potential proof of such deals.  What is more known at this point is that two men both strongly linked to Barack Obama’s own personal and political fortunes back in Chicago, will now likely be tucked away in prison cells for some time – or at the very least, for the remainder of the 2012 election cycle.

I’ll bet dollars to donuts that he winds up with time served, probation, some community service (Ha! Irony alert…) and that’ll be it.

Thank you Ulsterman and WHI, and keep up the good fight.

Yeah Yeah………Watch for obama to issue a pardon for these two on his way out. Crime/corruption seems to be obama’s middle name. Please tell me why no republicans aren’t doing a thing about any of his unconstitutional criminal acts?

Bob, the republicans aren’t doing anything about his unconstitutional criminal acts because not one of them has any balls! They are so afraid of doing anything against the first black president that would have them even touched with the racism brush, that they let him get away with murder! There is not one president that could ignore court orders, be held in contempt and continue to ignore them, selectively enforce our country’s laws (particularly in the case of voter intimidation by the NBP), and now have the scandal of gunrunner on top of it and hope to survive. Want to throw this birth certificate crap on top? Go ahead! NOTHING is being done! Any one of those things would sink a normal president! Watergate was petty nonsense compared to “Fast and Furious”. Where is the media? Where are Woodward and Bernstien? Nowhere! This guy has a fre pass and he damn well knows it! Issa ought to have a blizzard of subpoenas falling in DC. He ought to be seizing computers, hard drives, emails, and whatever. Instead, ho hum, the investigation drags at a snail’s pace!
