Fold our flag the first time as a symbol of life.

The belief in eternal life is the reason for the second fold.

The third fold is made to honor veterans for preserving our way of life.

The next fold represents our trust in God and His divine guidance.

Our flag is folded again as a tribute to our country.

Since it is with our hearts that we pledge allegiance to the flag, our heart is the reason for the sixth fold.

The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces.

The eighth time our flag is folded is a tribute to those who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that they may see the light of day.

Our flag is folded for the ninth time as a tribute to motherhood; for it is through a mother’s faith, love, loyalty, and devotion that the character of this country has been molded.

It is for the father, who has also given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country, that the tenth fold is made.

The eleventh fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David, for our hebrew citizens.

For christian citizens, the twelfth fold glorifies God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The final fold represents the unity of purpose found in this country as we Americans hold true to our values.

When our flag is folded completely the stars ar in the uppermost corner in rememberance of our nation’s motto, “In God We Trust”. A folded flag also makes a triangle shape; which takes on the appearance of a cocked hat to remind us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington and secured our independance.

The next time you see a flag ceremony honoring someone that has served our country, either in the armed forces or in our civilian services such as the police force or fire department, keep in mind all the important reasons behind each and every movement. They have paid the ultimate sacrifice for all the important reasons for all of us by honoring our flag, our country, and for preserving our way of life.
