About the man who invented things that most thought were impossible.

Thomas Edison’s goal was to make a working Light bulb. He did this because he wanted a better light source so that he and so many could benefit from it. He was inspired to make a better light source, because he was scared when his mother was operated on in the light from a gas light. He wanted to help people like me and you, and he did. The light bulb is now a part of everyday life. His main goal was to get through his life with-out going broke.

The light bulb is a great invention because it gives off Additional light then a gas lamp and it is safer then a gas lamp. Gas lighting would cost a lot more now in this day in time then back than. The price for gas would most likely be $4.09 at every gas station if the light bulb was never invented. Gas lights are more of a fire hazard then the light bulb that Thomas Edison invented in the 19th century. I think I think that the light bulb was a great idea because it was away for fire fighters to see during a reuse attempt. It can help the police to see the street.

I think if the light bulb was never invented then life would be so much different then it is now, because the light bulb is used for the headlights of cars. Thomas Edison created the light bulb and he got to see how the world changed since he created the light bulb. Doctors use lights in the operating room now they can save a lot more patients instead of having to stop and get more fuel for the lights. Lights are getting better and better each one that comes out. There is a lot of different lights, including one that lasts for seven years. The newest type of light is called a LED or Light-emitting diode light it is really bright. That does not have a light bulb in it; it is really advanced and really cool.

Some of the obstacles that Edison faced were that the light would light up but would burn out every couple of minutes. Then he almost ran out of money when he invented the phonograph machine nick named (the talking machine.) The money from that funded the development of the light bulb. Edison found 3000 metals that would not work, but he only needed one that did. He thought that the light would have like the oxygen in the air. Then he thought about a vacuum to put the light into it to make it glow. It lengthened the time from minutes to hours.

He overcame these obstacles by A. finding the one thing that worked, B. he used the money from the phonograph machine to fund the Light, C. then he thought about a vacuum. D. He thought about trying cotton. After he invented the light bulb he went on to invent 56 or more things. Edison could have been rich when he died but he his money funding his inventions. Edison invented the light bulb, and batteries (aka DC Electricity). Edison’s first invention was a Electrical Vote Recorder. At his first job he made an unbelievable $300 a month. In 1870 he got his first check from the government for his first invention, the check was for a total amount of $40,000. In 1891 he patented a motion picture camera. We watch a lot of movie these days and they still use the camera that he invented.

It means that 99% of your effort is blood sweet and tear, and the 1% is genius. Thomas must have had a lot of that Experience to make that statement about making things. Thomas Edison made the light bulb; he invested his money into it. He was kicked out of school by a teacher that swore that he was retarded. He lost hearing in his ears as time went on from childhood to the day of his death. There is a lot of thing out there about Thomas Edison. Even a Simpson’s episode was about homer trying to beat Thomas Edison at the number of things that he could invent.

A major obstacle that I am currently facing is a major obstacle that every writer gets it is called writers block. The way I am planning to solve this obstacle is by getting a little time to think about things to write about. I will most likely be over it by next year. I need to think of how to get the chapters of my book to be like a chapter in a regular book. When I do that I need to think of other things to write about so I do not leave behind my interest in writing.

In conclusion Perseverance paid off for Thomas Edison, he created the light which was his goal. Perseverance will pay off me by me getting done my book and by starting something other then MOM. Maybe I will re-write DAD. I wrote a lot of books, but I only have the one called A Mother’s Story. My computer crashed at home in the summer. I was awaiting my return to school, because I saved a copy to the server. When I checked it, it was not there because I saved it last year and my folder changed and DAD was not transferred to my tenth grade account folder.
