Titanic “Death of a Dream”
The greatest ship ever built, and how it crashed.
It was also made by the history channel and it has history in the name so it will be to do about history. Still it may be unreliable if the historians have not studied or researched their parts properly and go the wrong evidence, we have to admit that historians have a rather lot to learn and got it mixed up. This however is unlikely if they say something wrong the rest of the historian will know that he made a mistake.
This documentary was made because it wanted people to watch it and as a result made money of the adverts so they made it that extra bit interesting to make it appeal to the viewers. This although is a possibility it does not go far to be true. The most important part was to tell the target audience what had actually happened to the Titanic and not so made up lies that only tell us false facts.
In conclusion, the source that comes closest to telling the truth will be (as I said before) the documentary. This is because it is something that is made for a direct approach to what we want to know. Like the newspaper, but be can say that unlike the newspaper, it is a secondary source and the newspaper is a primary source so it is bound to be more reliable. If we compare the documentary with the film is more reliable because there is hardly a point in the documentary to lie about it, it is only suited for the target audiences. Were as in the film it was suited for all the people because the target audience is for everyone so they will be able to make money. There is no need for the in that documentary. And also the are more historians that we know the name to in the doc’ so therefore we can go and research into them and we do not have so much names on either the movie or the newspaper. If we were to search for the second most reliable source then it would be the Hollywood film. Comparing it with the newspaper it has the same advantage as the documentary by it being a secondary source. To add to that we can go research what historians, if any, had help with the making of the film, but in the newspaper we can not. In the documentary it would be even easier due to their names come up on the screen. So in the order of reliability we can put that the newspaper is the least reliable, the Hollywood film being the next and I finish by saying the most reliable by far is the documentary.
