The Tomb of Christ has been recognized and studied for 1700 years, more proof than the other tombs listed here. It remains the foremost place in the world (and I've visited other tombs listed here).

Pretty amazing structures. Beautiful pictures. In looking for feedback I would like to put it out there that many people like to try to convince others of the great mystery of , and human inability to have built the pyramids at Giza. This is very close-minded to me. If you were born and raised in a " third world" jungle and walked out of it tomorrow and laid eyes on the pyramids , the Taj-Mahal , a modern metropolis like New york City or Hong Kong would you really think for a second that a creation that built the second two could not build a pile of stones such as the pyramids. My cell phone and all that is involved in it is more heavily engineered than the pyramids at Giza or any pyramid for that matter. Sorry Mayans. Fantastic sun dial though. Sacrifice that to the sun gods , little pigmy's!
On a serios note I did not see the undisputed heavyweight champion of all tombs throughout the history of the world. The tomb of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Note the uniquity of its emptiness. I can only tell you who is in most of the tombs on this site because it says who is in them on this site. Everybody knows what Jesus's tomb looks like and everyone knows who is in it! Score one for the BIG ALMIGHTY!

Informative and interesting article. Wonderful pictures, very clear and focused. I absolutely love ancient history. I do believe people are degressing through the generations, not progressing. What buildings built today could withstand centuries? I am in awe of ancient structures and architecture.

How about the tomb of the prophet of Islam Muhammed in Medina? Surely a historical figure of huge significance whose legacy has been relevant throughout the 1400 years since his death.

There are no factories in Togo and people are suffering because they have no job and no food and no way treat themselves when they got sick. Thousands are dying of malaria in Togo.<br />
I think before we build casttles for the deads, we have to help improve peoples life by putting money together to build factories, roads, schools, hospitals and develop modern agriculture especialy in the republic of Togo.
