These are the largest empires in the history of the world.
1.- The Achaemenid Empire (Persian Empire); At around 500 BC this vast empire was approximately 8 million square kilometers in surface, spreading on three continents, Asia, Africa and Europe. It was very diverse culturally and customs of the Persian Empire spread and survived even after the Empire fall with cultures like Greece among others accepting many of its customs and traditions.
2.- Empire of Japan (Japanese Empire); At the height of its power this Empire was almost 7.5 million square kilometers in surface. From 1868. till 1947, this Empire spread well into the China and South-East Asia and it was one the largest maritime empires in the history. After the world war two the Empire stopped to exist.
3.- Roman Empire; Probably the best known of the Empires. Roman Empire reached the peak of its territorial expansion around 117 A.D. under Emperor Trajan when it spanned an area of 6.5 square kilometers. Roman Empire looks truly impressive on the map of Europe and it is often mentioned for improvements in economy, roads, medicine, education and many other significant improvements
4.- Ottoman Empire; Existing for more than 600 year, Ottoman Empire was around 6.3 million square kilometers in size. Like most of the other empires, Ottoman Empire was encompassing many different cultures and was spreading its own culture to the conquered areas thus creating mixture of customs and traditions that exist to this day in various forms.
5.- Macedonian Empire; In a short period of time a small kingdom Macedon was formed into Macedonian Empire during Alexander the Great, the world known king and commander.
Undefeated in battle, he created the great empire that spanned over 5.4 million of square kilometers and controlled area of former Persian Empire.
Other notable empires of the world are; Egyptian Empire, British, Mongol, Russian, American, Spanish, Arab, Portuguese, Nazi Germany Empire and Qing Empire…

wow, I didn’t realise these empires were so huge. The Persian empire was massive! I will share this one with my friends.
