Swiss geneticists say that half of Europeans and 70 percent of British men are related to the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. Scientists at Zurich genealogy center “iGENEA” reconstructed the DNA of the young pharaoh, his father and grandfather Ekhnaton Amenhotep III. They found that the gene belongs haplogrupa R1b1a2, which belong to more than 50% of men in western Europe. This means that shared ancestral, reports Reuters. In this group belong to less than 1% of today’s Egyptians.

Exciting discovery that belonged to the European genetic group – says Roman Sholc from the center “iGENEA.” They believe that their common ancestor lived in the Caucasus before 9500 years.
Scientists believe that the spread of genetic haplogroup in Europe began with the development of farming, 7,000 years before Christ.

Geneticists are now working on how to find the nearest relative of pharaoh Tutankhamun.
