What Were The Motives of The September 11th Attacks?
The motives of th 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The attacks were followingvthe general mission statement of Al-Qaeda. This mission statement was first set in 1998 by Osama bin Laden. The statement began by quoting the Koran saying, “slay the pagans wherever ye find them”. Osama went on to interpret this statement as saying it is the ”duty of every Muslim” to “kill Americans anywhere”. Bin Laden elaborated on this theme in his letter to America in October 2002: “You are the worst civilization witnessed by the history of mankind: You are the nation who, rather than ruling by the Shariah of Allah in its Constitution and Laws, choose to invent your own laws as you will and desire. You separate religion from your policies, contradicting the pure nature which affirms Absolute Authority to the Lord and your Creator.” It is thought Al-Qaeda were also very against the military in the Middle East. However they knew they could not take them down themselves. The idea behind the attacks was to increase security and military in the Middle East which would cause Muslims to fight against the Westerners.
