Why Louis the 16 Was Executed
Louis the XVI was the last king of France…
One of the worst crises in France happened in the winter of 1789. It was a terrible winter. France was bankrupt because of the war in America. All the peasants were starving; their life style was terrible. Even at that time the king made them pay taxes. Paris was full of hobos. Meanwhile the king was having parties, spending enormous amounts of money. Marie Antoinette even made Louis the XVI buy her a mansion. This didn’t please the starving peasants.
Across the Atlantic Ocean, Americans are fighting for their independence against. Louis the XVI sends troops to help out the Americans. It was a long and hard fight. France got bankrupt because the war was so expensive. When the Americans obtained their independence they installed a democratic power. This influenced a lot the Frenchman. This is were there democratic idea comes from. Louis XVI basically paid for the French revolution. He made France a country who resisted and fought off royalty power to turn the countries power into a democratic one. The French now knew that it was possible to be a free country as well.
The French revolution started late 1789. It was terribly violent. The French peasants and bourgeoisie were filled with raged. They stick soldiers heads on spikes kill nobles and end up by capturing the king. On the 21 of June the king escapes from jail with his wife his sister and his two kids. He was going towards prussic were he would find shelter because of Marie Antoinette’s brother who’s brother is King of Prussia. His escape fails when he is recaptured in Varennes. Since then, the king is seen is a traitor by the French citizens. For them Prussia was to be considered as an enemy, this is where their hatred towards the queen came from. France when to war with Prussia in 1793 but lost because there army was disorganized. Under the reign of terror (Robespierre), the last king of France got executed in1793.
Louis the 16 would probably have not been executed if it weren’t for his wife. She was Prussian, and that lay a dark shadow upon Louis the XVI. H was considered as a traitor. Because of his wife, Louis was separated from the French civilians. an invisible wall grew up between Versailles and Paris.
In the following years, France lived through a reign of terror. The head of the security department; Robespierre, ordered that anyone who’s family name sounded noble was to be executed without trial. It took many years for France to settle and become a fair nation and for the civilians to be free at last.

This is a poor essay on the French revolution–it is rife with errors. First of all, Louis XVI was not the last king of France–his two brothers reigned after him after a restoration of the Bourbons and a cousin, Louis Philippe, reigned as King of the French after Louis XVI’s last brother was deposed. Louis Philippe is technically the last king to ever rule France. Marie Antoinette was not Prussian but was an Austrian. Please read a history book and get your facts straight. I will not even try to correct you on Robisperre, etc–you are just plain misinformed. You could have done better if you had even looked this up in the Wikipedia!

I stunbled across your disaster of an essay looking for the reasons for the execution of Louis XVI, and i thank the lord for my lack of ignorance on the subject.
I worry for people who might use this as a source. It’s complete, and utter rubbish AND you need to learn how to write.
