Why People Moved to America?
Why people came from different countries.
In the old days most people came to America because the searched for Political Freedom,Religious Tolerance(since in most countries having other religions could get you killed), Economic Opportunity(most people were very poor and seemed to think America would improve their economic struggles), People wanted a better life – better job – more money, Political Refugees fear for their lives, Some want free atmosphere,Forced Immigration (Slavery), Family Reunification,There are two types of motivation for immigration, Push(need to leave in order to survive),Pull (attracted to new way of life). Basically America was like a safe haven for all of these different people.
The reason for immigration is quite clear. Land remained plentiful, and fairly cheap. Jobs were abundant, and labor was scarce and relatively dear. A decline in the birthrate as well as an increase in industry and urbanization reinforced this situation. They wanted to have a life just like the americans did. Which meant owning lands, crops, cattle and other domesticated animals. It was the American dream and for them it had not happened yet. They usually found out about the american dreams from family members or people who had already travelled to America. They needed the chance to make a brand new life in a different country. They craved for independence and deliverance from their unsatisfying lives.
The main reason why everybody wants to go to US is because if they would go somewhere like France of Japan although they would get higher wages, there is a much greater chance of getting harassed, arrested or deported in those countries as opposed to US. Large population increases meant many traditional communities in Eastern Europe were becoming too crowded. Severe persecution meant many people fled to America to escape. Poverty and famine drove also drove many to the U.S.A where the economy was booming. There were plenty of good paying jobs available so America was believed to be the “Land of opportunity” Many had their passage paid for them to go to America, either for cheap labour or to move closer to friends and family.
