Why We Fight
Insights into why humans fight and how it comes naturally in some instances.
Every human has some kind of fight in them, every human from the youngest baby to the oldest man or woman is fighting for something. There is no definitive reason for why everyone fights because everybody is fighting for different reasons. Some fight for themselves, for a people, for a specific person, for a cause or even just for survival. The only common ground between people and their fights is the fact that they are fighting.
Most parents are fighting for themselves and for their children. This does not mean though that just because someone is a parent that all they fight for is their children and themselves. Parents fight in their own life to get ahead and make more money that way their children can have the best life possible. Parents will always fight for children because of the unbreakable bond between a child and his or her parent. Not only do parents fight, but the child or children fight as well. Children fight for what they think is best for themselves or what they want. Most children are not thinking of others to fight for, for example a four year old trying and trying to get an unattainable toy is a fight for the child’s wants.
Most people fight for the betterment of their lives or to protect their own interests. Even when protecting their own interests, a person is usually fighting for themselves. During the civil rights movements those who protested were not only fighting for the rights of race but also fighting for their own personal rights. During the U.S. Revolution the colonists were not only fighting for a country’s freedom but they were fighting for their own personal freedom as well. These fights are not only permitted to the masses though, even a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend can be seen in the same light. When a girl fights with a boy about a relationship, the girl is not only fighting for the happiness of her and the boy as an item, but also for her own happiness so she can feel loved and wanted and have a boyfriend who she cares about. There are some instances though when a fight for a greater cause does not pertain to one’s own interests. If a man were to march at a woman’s rights protest he would truly be giving of himself because he is fighting for something that will not benefit him directly if at all.
