World War One & Two Overview Summary

Overview summary of world war one and two important events.

WORLD WAR 1 – 1914-1919

The assassination of Arch Duke and his family trigged the first world war on June 28, 1914. In the year 1914 several wars began. Austria-Hungary waged war on Serbia and Russia. Germany engages war against Russia, France and Belgium. This violates a treaty signed by Prussua respecting Belgian neutrality. As a result of the invasion, Britain declares war on both Germany and Austria-Hungary.

Canada later then sees the conflicts and joins the war. The conflicts between the allies and Germans created a competition of who had the better technology for war. Chlorine Gas was developed by the Germans and was first used on April 22, 1915 at the Battle of Ypres and a Tank that was first developed by the Britain but failed in combat because it got trapped in mud. Airplanes were most useful at the end of the war. It was mainly used for reconnaissance missions. In the year 1914 these battles began: The Battle of the Frontiers, Battle of Togoland, Battle of Tannenberg, First Battle of the Marne, First Battle of Masurian Lakes, First Battle of Masurian Lakes, Battle of Lemberg, First Battle of Ypres, Battle of Lodz, Battle of the Falkland Islands, First Battle of Aisne. Later on in the year the Germans pressure the attack and win against the Russians. As the allies battle the Germans became and lose a battle from the French. Germans begin to use the The Canadians come in to support the French and pull the German armies back. They won the battle of Battle of Ypres. The war ended when the Germans had to choice but to sign the treaty of Versaille given by the Allies which had conditions which effected them a lot. At the end of the war the world suffers 37,494,186 total casualties.

WORLD WAR 2 – 1939 – 1945

In 1939 Hitler’s army called the Nazi begin their hatred of Jews by invading Poland. The British and the French attack Germany since they had violated the treaty of Versaille. One year later the British and the French retreat to Dunkirk. Poland, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, France become officially under the control of Germany. August to October of 1940. The Germans attack Britain with bombers but fail because of British radar technology. Germans abandon Britain and move to attack the Soviet Union. Then in 1941 December 7 Pearl Harbor gets bombed by Japan and U.S. declares war on Japan. Hitler commits suicide after Germany gets invaded by both sides by the British and the Soviets. U.S. drop atomic bomb on Hiroshima after the U.S. warned Japan to surrender. German generals make the decision to surrender after the loss of their leader, Hitler.
