WWI Started with a Bang

This is how World War I started.

WW1 Started With a Bang

So if you ever wondered how World War started then here is the first thing that rolled into many lives being lost.

So then, you may or may not know that the 6 powerful countries of Europe at that time were: Britain, Germany, France, Russia, Austria-Hungary and Italy. These countries divided into two alliances:

The Triple Alliance

Germany

Austria-Hungary

Italy

The Triple Entente

Britain

France

Russia

The occupants of the alliances were agreeing to protect each other if one of the other alliances got attacked. So this meant if Britain attacked Germany; Germany, Austria-Hungary and Italy will all attack Britain.

So the tensions here were very high and one small thing could spark everything off, and in 1914. It happened when Austria-Hungary’s Arch duke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were assassinated in Serbia by Bosnian Assassins. Austria-Hungary blamed Serbia for training the Bosnian assassins so in retaliation Austria-Hungary attacked Serbia in Belgrade. Why did this spark the war? Well Russia at this time was also allies with Serbia so Russia attacked Austria-Hungary. Germany (Austria’s allies) did not like this so they asked Russia to not attack, but Russia did not listen and prepared defences for Serbia.

Summary

Austria has attacked Serbia so Russia is defending Serbia against Austria. Germany doesn’t like this so they do this…

Germany declare war on Russia and knowing that France are Russia’s allies set troops moving to France, they also send troops to neutral Belgium, Now France start preparing the defensive troops while Britain being the good guy says to Germany to leave Belgium but unfortunately Germany aren’t listening so Britain declare war on Germany.

Summary

The two alliances are now fighting each other and World War 1 has begun.

This war was expected to be finished by Christmas of that year but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. The war eventually finished in 1918 with lots of fatalities for both sides.

Although they thought that this was the war to end all wars, just 20 years later war was on the cards once again in the form of World War 2.

This is how World War one started and I hoped you found it factual and interesting.
