10 Forth of July Safety Tips
My 10 tips for a safe Forth of July.
Ah the Forth of July, time for beer, barbecue, and fireworks but unfortunately every year people get hurt. So I’ve decided to come up with a few safety tips for this forth.
- When lighting cannon type fireworks never have any part of your body over it that you don’t want to lose.
- Never fire a firework at anything or anyone. (unless you’re ok with killing or maiming it)
- Always light the firework and get away.(This one improves the view, safety, and is a good test for tip #4)
- If someone is to drunk to run away from the big ones, they’re to drunk to light them (can’t tell? watch them following tip #3)
- If you can’t tell if the fuse is still burning. It is — STAY AWAY!
- If the firework appears damaged or requires modification to use it without instructions to do so, it could be as dangerous as a bomb — DON’T LIGHT IT!
- Be mindful of anything that could catch on fire (eg. grass, rags, buildings)
- You don’t need a portable ambulance, but a quickly made first aid kit won’t hurt. Just put some bandages, antibiotic ointment and burn cream in a bag that should cover most injuries.
- Always bring drinks to help prevent dehydration (If you bring alcohol bring the same amount of water, alcohol will just dehydrate you faster.)
- DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE! (If you see someone doing it, stop them, it could save a life!)
Well that’s my list of tips for a safe Forth of July, have fun stay safe and save a beer for me!
