10 Free Ways to Entertain the Family at Christmas

Many of us are budget conscious this Christmas and we can all make use of the free stuff that’s around. Here are ten fun, entertaining ways to amuse the whole family at Christmas. You can even send free greetings cards.

There are lots of Christmas applications and files which are free to download from the net.  Here are a selection which will entertain the kids, big and small.

Christmas Lights

With this program you can string holly, snowmen, lights,  stockings and all kinds of other things around your monitor.  You get to choose what you string up  and which side of the screen. There is also a screen saver mode which display snowflakes or snowmen which bounce around all over the place.

There is also a selection of festive music which (I am pleased to say) is optional. When you have had enough of it you can switch it off.

Free Christmas Games

It’s always great to get something free and there are loads of free Christmas games here.  You can play Santa Mah-jong, solve a Santa jigsaw puzzle,  play Christmas slider and memory games, plus lots more.

More suited to the younger members of the family but I particularly liked the Reindeer Dog Puzzle.

Penguin Families

Most people love penguins and this cute little game is fun for all the family. You have to get the baby penguins over the water but baby penguin get scared if their parents aren’t with them and this is what you have to work out. Get them across without them leaving their parents!

Penguins Play Softball

This one is kind of cute too.  Great fun but simple enough for even the little ones to enjoy.  What is it about penguins that makes them so cute?

Christmas Room Décor

Simple game where you decorate your room for Christmas using a magic wand. Light up the chandelier, light the fire. Make it all warm and toasty.

Santa Game

This one was quite amusing for a short time. The scene is a snowy one and two Santa’s carrying a trampoline have to bounce various object, including bombs and Christmas trees into a box.

There is music in the background that really gets to you after a few minutes!

Santa Downhill Slide

Santa is sitting on a blue disc and you have to navigate for him, collect various objects and steer.  There is music in the background and Santa made some quite odd sounds when he hits something  (do you blame him?)  He also a really cackling kind of laugh!

Black Dogs Christmas Page

This site is jam packed with things for kids to do. There are games, puzzles, songs, jokes and even help with making Christmas decorations and cards. This is a great place to keep younger children entertained.

Elves Club: Free Games

Trim a tree, do a crossword, build a snowman,  or play checkers.  All these activities and more are free on-line at this site.

Send Free Holiday Cards

This is a great place for all the family to go. You  can send free Holiday/Christmas  cards to everyone you know from this page.  There’s a choice of pictures to choose from and you can personalise the greetings.

Save yourself some money and some time and send out your e-cards from here.

There should be something here to keep the whole family occupied.  You could even get older children to send out the family greetings cards via email this year and save yourself a lot of money on the cost of mailing them out.  Well, there are some that you need to mail in the regular way but every little bit helps when it comes to the Christmas budget.

Nothing mentioned I this article will cost you any money!  Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever you wish to call it!

I’m sending this article to my husband’s e-mail address. He can certainly do with the e-card mailing. He never sends out any cards to his colleagues until the last minute.
