10 Unconventional and Definitely Unique Christmas Trees

by Dialga in Holidays, December 23, 2008

We all know what a standard Christmas tree looks like, but there are some of us that prefer to think outside of the box and amaze others with our unconventional ways of doing things. In this case, these trees definitely don’t fit the typical image of a Christmas tree.

The first strange Christmas tree I came across was this one. There are very few decorations on it and the distance in height between the branches clearly makes the tree look skimpy and sparse. It’s definitely one of the less-attractive trees of the season.

The next tree I chose to place on this list seems to be better suited to a tropical location. It gives the impression that the leaves resemble those of palm trees. Perhaps this sort of tree is what people in warm climates such as Florida use for the holidays. Still, I can’t help but point out how different it looks from a standard pine.

The next tree I found that seemed just a tad out-of-place was a traditional pine tree, all right. In this case, however, it has been spray-painted pink. Now, this might be a good idea for celebrating Easter, but it just doesn’t seem right for a holiday represented by the colors red and green. Also, it kind of takes away from a “green” Christmas, doesn’t it? After all, the chemicals used in spray paint are hardly environmentally-friendly.

The fourth tree on my list hasn’t been spray-painted, but the shape of it is definitely odd, to say the least. With so many red-colored Christmas lights around it, the tree itself definitely stands out. However, I’d like to see the electricity bill of the person who decorated this tree.

This next tree reminds me of a Bonsai tree. I’m not sure why, but it does. It looks like something that would be used in either Chinese or Japanese culture. In a way, it sort of represents the fact that a simplistic design can still look pretty decent. Although this tree isn’t that heavily decorated, it still leaves a clean and simple impression on its viewers.

For the sixth tree on my list, I chose one which isn’t really a tree at all. To be completely honest, this picture implies that someone decorated a leafless tree – a bunch of bare, bland and neutral-looking branches. No lights, no electricity – just what appears to be a dead tree being decorated with ornamental balls.

This white spray-painted tree has no lights on it at all either – instead, it’s decorated mainly with small plastic handbags. I particularly like it since not only will it save you a bundle on your electricity bill, but the white-painted leaves will make the decorations stand out even more.

The next tree on my list looks like a cake with paper-cut stick-people around it. To be honest, it would’ve looked even more impressive if it had a star on top. Nevertheless, it’s yet another tree that will save your money on your electrical bills. From the height of it, I’d say it must’ve taken quite a while to put together – either that, or a lot of cranes.

The ninth tree on my list is not really a tree at all, but a representation of one. Large metal trash cans are being used to represent the design of a Christmas tree. It’s one thing to be cheap, but this is plain outright ridiculous. You might as well call it a “garbage can pyramid” while you’re at it. Although it’s a symbol of human ingenuity, it just doesn’t cut the role of being a true Christmas tree.

And finally, this last Christmas tree picture was made in Photoshop, but it looks pretty neat anyway, doesn’t it? Imagine if the laws of gravity didn’t apply and it was actually possible to create an upside-down tree. Nevertheless, I would personally still stick to the standard upright tree because if this one falls, it’ll take all of its decorations down with it.
