11 Great Ways to Save Money in the Thanksgiving Preparation

Here are some of the great tips you could use to cut down your budget this holiday season.

There are a lot of people who are having a hard time lowering their budget for the holiday season. The very reason for this is that many people already corrupted the true meaning of Christmas. Many people do not actually know that the season is not intended for consumerism but for Christ who came here to save us. I wrote some tips hoping that it will be of great help to you:

  1. The best way to be able to buy cheap things from the grocery store is to buy the things you want as early as possible (non-peak days).

People always have this attitude of last minute buying, that is why most of them would end up saying, “Oh my, the prices are doubled.” But of course, your common sense will tell you that you can only buy the things that will not easily rot; else it will not anymore be usable.

  2. You should not always listen to what other people are asking you.

There are some people who are pressured to buy the food beyond their budget because of the request of other people. It is not bad to grant wishes but the thing is, if you can’t afford it then don’t be ashamed to tell them.

  3. Always try to give home-made gifts.

Although this may seem so simple but a Christmas Card will still work for many people. You don’t need to give very expensive gifts to the ones you love.

  4. Always avail discount coupons.

Just buy the things you need and not the things you just want because it will just add up to your burden. Always organize first what you need by making a grocery list.

  5. Instead of expensive vacation trip why not plan to have a camp on a nearby family park or even at your backyard.

Anyway Christmas in not just about spending money but about family bonding.

  6. Buy in bulk.

This way you can avail more of the discount. You will be saving more money because of the gasoline that you will not be consuming.

  7. Why not make your own Christmas decoration instead of buying expensive ones.

Honestly speaking, my family doesn’t have the luxury to buy Christmas trees and lights, so what we do is that we decorate the house with the things we cut out from used magazines. You can just also by cartolinas and write something there, then post it on your wall.

  8. Be creative in creating your menu.

It is not bad to make your own recipes as long as you know what you are doing. Try to have some alternatives. I will also be posting some recipes that you can use in preparing for the thanksgiving party. It is just so simple but undoubtedly tastier than those expensive foods you can see in restaurants.

  9. Eat first before shopping.

It is already a very common advise for many people who want to save money, to eat first before going to the mall to avoid extra expenses for the food you will be buying. My mother always tell us to eat first because our budget is just for buying the things for the occasion.

  10. Instead of expensive bottled sodas why not serve juice for the young ones.

You do not only save money, but also making also your children have a healthier choice.

  11. Instead of treating your kids to the movie house, why not rent or buy a DVD and watch it at  home.

You can just make some home-made popcorn. It is not anymore practical– especially now that everyone’s having a problem with the economic recession– to spend too much in a movie house if you can just watch movies at home.

May God Bless You All!

wow! very practical advice… it’s very true when you buy things earlier than when you do it during the rush hours… my goodness how prices would skyrocket in just a snap of your fingers! :)

thank you for this one and keep up the good work.
