Here are some of the most interesting facts about Father’s Day.
Father’s Day is celebrated in many countries of the world. It is celebrated every 3rd Sunday of June. This year, Father’s Day fall on June 19 and in 2012 it will be celebrated in June 17. Father’s Day is a celebration honoring all the fathers in the world.

1.) Fairmont, West Virginia in the US is the place where the first observance of Father’s Day actually took place on July 5, 1908.
2.) The first Father’s Day observance was organized by Mrs. Grace Golden Clayton because she wanted to honor the 210 fathers who died in the Monongah Mining disaster in 1907.
3.) Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington took all the credit for Father’s Day who invented independently her own celebration of Father’s Day just two years later.
4.) US President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers and designated the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day in 1966.
5.) In 1972, US President Richard Nixon made Father’s Day a permanent national holiday by signing it into law.
6.) In Russia and other former republic of the Soviet Union, Father’s Day is celebrated ad “Defenders of the Fatherland Day” every 23rd of February.
7.) In Romania, Father’s Day is celebrated every 2nd Sunday of May and it is known as “Ziua Tatălui”.
8.) Father’s day is celebrated every 19th of March in Italy as Festa del Papa, Dia del Padre in Spain, Dia do Pai in Portugal, and Dia del Pare in Andorra.
9.) Liechtenstein, Honduras, Bolivia and Antwerp, Belgium also celebrate Father’s Day every March 19.
10.) In Tonga, Father’s Day is celebrated every 3rd Sunday of May while in Germany it is celebrated on Ascension Day which is traditionally celebrated on a Thursday, the 40th day from Easter day.
11.) In Lithuania and Switzerland, Father’s Day is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of June while in Denmark it is celebrated on the 5th of June which coincides to their Constitution Day.
12.) Austria and Belgium celebrate Father’s Day every 2nd Sunday of June while many countries from around the world celebrate it on the 3rd Sunday of the same month.
13.) El Salvador and Guatemala in Central America celebrate Father’s Day every 17th of June while Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Uganda do it every 21st of June – the 1st day of summer.
14.) June 23 is the day where Father’s Day is celebrated in Poland and Nicaragua while in Uruguay it is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of July.
15.) In the Dominican Republic, the day of honoring fathers falls every last Sunday of July while in Brazil and Samoa it is celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of August.
16.) August 8 is the day of celebrating Father’s Day in Taiwan while in Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea it is celebrated every 1st Sunday of September.
17.) In Ukraine, it is celebrated every 3rd Sunday of September and in Nepal it is August 23.
18.) First Sunday of October is the day in Luxembourg where they celebrate Father’s Day and in Indonesia it is celebrated every 12th of November
19.) European countries such as Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden celebrate Father’s Day every 2nd Sunday of November.
20.) In Thailand, it is celebrated every December 5, the birthday of their current king – King Bhumibol while in Bulgaria it is celebrated every December 26.
