600 Hours of Tv Repeats

This Christmas the British are faced with 600 hours of repeats according to the Daily Express. A big Ah, for the couch potato who hasn’t got anything better to do, while many never have or likely to have that luxury anyway.

Christmas time is supposed for giving and to remember the birth Christ naming but a few of the meanings of this festival. But the period has long had another meaning during this time of year.

Many children and even adults expect more during this time which has over the years become a more marketing festival than a meaningful one. A survey revealed that the first bust up on Christmas day will be by 9.30am. Before that, you have the office parties, the tired shopping trips let alone the fights over which endless festive TV programmes to watch. This is without any consideration of people starving and dying, all we look at is our own selfishness.

However when people are paying money for their TV licenses, we do expect new material on the TV and not 600 hours of repeats. Not that I will watch much anyway, but I feel that with the money the companies are saving, they could give to these people who will not have a Christmas. They did a great job of getting people to part with their money for children in need, I feel it is time they got out there and donated the money for the starving and dying. Then I will feel happy to pay my licence fee.

If they are not prepared to do this I hope the trading standards will come down on them for not giving its viewers value for money.

There are just too many pointless channels out there – I agree switch em off and spend the time with the people that matter most – that’s the way forward

This happens here in the Philippines during the lenten season… They play \”The 10 Commandments\” over and over and it\’s the old movie and I grew up watching and probably in the future my children and even grand children will grow up watching the same old movie on TV.
