A Socio-economic Christmas
May the Scrooges of today find their way.
Lately I have been questioning Christmas and its significance. Not that I don’t believe in Jesus, I do, but the belief that we have chances, hope, is what I am having a problem with. Today’s world is getting tougher and tougher for the average person. Trying to keep a family in a house is the hardest thing in the world as all prices of all things are going up but salaries are either staying the same or going down or away.
Christmas is a time of joy, peace and love. We should be embracing the day, the life that we have been offered but yet we don’t, we trudge and attempt to make it through while bearing a burden, a weight of discomfort and responsibility, while businesses conform not to religious ideals or morals, but to their own justified purpose. The Scrooges of today’s world make Scrooge look like a very generous man, before he met the ghosts.
I pray this Christmas Season, not for me, but for all that endure the sting of a socio-economic oppressive hand and for those whose hands oppress. May those enduring find strength to push away and may those oppressed find the ghosts of change and heart.
Merry Christmas to all!!!

I am enjoying the lead up to Christmas this year in Cyprus. Friends are cutting down on what they spend and are asking me for craft ideas. The art of giving and receiving is a little toned down now and more thought and pleasure has gone into the gifts.
Interesting topic.

It doesn’t seem to get any easier and I’m not particularly encouraged about the future. I still intend to enjoy Christmas. I’ll worry about 2010 when it gets here.
