Everyday, whether the family lives in a house or in an apartment, there should be an outing to the local park.
This is also a good way to meet other children.
Other outings
A visit to a mall: you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun at a mall. Be wise as to what time and season you go to a mall. Usually earlier in the day is quiter than later. Usually August is better than Christmas. But even the older children like a visit with Santa Claus.
Make it very clear as to what the children can spend and not spend. Perhaps give them five or ten dollars right at the beginning and tell them that’s all they can spend. Once they’re spent that money, that’s it.

But window shopping can be just as fun as shopping.
