Be my valentine
What valentine day is to many
Only one month away and the shops are full of cards and things to give to the one person who brings happiness to our lives, Our Valentine.
Young children are taught that Valentines Day is when we ask someone to be our sweetheart, our friend, our special person. Adults treat Valentines Day as a time to ask that special person to be the love of their life, the mate for life, their bed partner for the night.
Gangsters remember Valentines Day as the day when a trap was set fro a group of mobsters and the men were lined up against a wall and shot. No love was shown there I’m sure.
So what is the big deal about Valentines Day? It is tradition, a time honored event that brings people together to share love and good will. It is a time we open our hearts to friends and loved ones and tell them how much we care about them. It is a time when we can find a card that says things better than we can think to say ourselves.
This Valentines Day who will you ask to be your valentine? Will you offer the standard box of candy? Will you take someone to a nice fancy diner? Will you ask someone to marry you? What ever your plans remember that love comes from the heart, not to be squandered, not to be sold, but to be cherished from the sole. Love is not just a word but a feeling, a mood, yearning.
The emotion of love has been the downfall of many a man and women. It will trick you into doing things you would not otherwise think of doing. It will make you say things you may not mean, it will cause you pain, joy and happiness. It will also make life worth living.
So set your sights on that special someone, plan your special day, buy that special gift and have a happy Valentines Day.
