Blue Christmas: Drastic Measures for Depression
Keep this in mind when the season’s hype gives you the hives.
1. Welcome to the loneliness
Don’t wallow and don’t sulk when the bitter bugs bite. Awareness of you depression will give you ammunition and gear you up emotionally to handle it.
2. Know the triggers
We’re pretty sure we know what gets us down, so address those mines of misery at their source. Learn to identify and do something to improve the root causes before depression sets in.
3. Develop constructive Christmas outlets
Go through the list of holiday treats and feel free to develop some of your own. Make it a goal to do something worthwhile everyday. Having a daily “game plan” gives your life meaning and purpose.
4. Lift up yourself
Remind yourself of your dazzling diva qualities and bask I your successes. Taking stock of your assets and dwelling on them periodically help you appreciate your blessings.
5. Sharpen those senses
Take time to enjoy and appreciate a wide variety of sights, sounds and situations. The more in-tune you are with the world around you, the less likely you will concentrate on your sorry situation.

I particularly like # 5, “The more in-tune you are with the world around you, the less likely you will concentrate on your sorry situation.”
