Carving a Jack O’ Lantern

Making a jack o’ lantern from a pumpkin can be a lot of fun.

Except for carving which should be done by an adult, allow the children to clean out the pumpkin.

Put lots of newspapers on the floor.  The adult can cut the circle on top.  With spoons and little hands, the children can scoop the goo in the pumpkin.  It can be a lot of fun,

The children can draw a face on the pumpkin.

It is a good idea to not put a candle in the pumpkin.  After a few days, throw out the pumpkin.

Remember the jack o’ lantern doesn’t have to look like Martha Stewart made it.  But if you like that sort of thing go ahead,
