Celebrating June

Here are some interesting June holidays to celebrate.

June will soon be upon us. Ahh, those lazy days of summer, swimming, picnicing, relaxing, we all just love them. However, there may be a few of you out there who see June as a somewhat boring month. After all, what is there to really celebrate? There’s father’s day of course, and as much as we all want to honor our fathers it really isn’t a holiday made for those who really want to party.

For those of you who need the excuse of a holiday to let your hair down and really enjoy yourself, June must seem like a pretty poor month for celebrations. Well, cheer up you party hounds, June has plenty of Holidays to celebrate! Here are just a few of the more interesting ones.

June 1st actually has two holidays to celebrate. It is Flip a Coin day and Dare day.

Flip a coin day started with Julius Ceasar. Whenever he had a decision to make and could not decide between two choices he simply flipped a coin. If it came up heads, where his face was, then he would go ahead with whatever was proposed. If tails came up he would not follow through. While it might have been a terrible way to decide whether or not to go into battle, it can be a fun way to spend a day. Simply reduce every decision to flipping a coin. Can’t decide whether to wear shorts or jeans? Flip a coin. Trying to decide if you eat in or cook out? Flip a coin. Simple, easy, and could lead to all sorts of interesting adventures on this day.

Dare day is a day when you challenge someone else to do something and accept a challenge yourself. You can even dare yourself to do something. The only rule for this holiday is the dares must be legal and not dangerous. So go ahead dare someone to do something. Can’t decide which dare to choose?

Why not Flip a coin?

June 3rd Repeat day. If you love doing something this is the day to do it. Twice. Never tire of telling that story? This is your chance to tell it over and over, and over again. Of course there may be a few things that doesn’t bear repeating so try to avoid those things on this day.

June 4th Old Maids Day. Although traditionally this is a holiday to try and find a husband why not make it a holiday celebrating the fact you don’t have one. No one’s dirty socks to pick up, no excuses for their being late, no arguments. If you are a woman and single just count your blessings today.

June 18th National Panic Day. This my personal favorite. A day when we can worry all we want to. A day to make mountains out of Mole hills. We can worry about our jobs, our health, and our neighbors and have an official holiday making it acceptable. What could be better than this?

June 26th National Forgiveness day. What a great holiday this is. Time to put aside all those old grudges and make up. Wipe the slate clean and start over with someone. They will feel better and you will too. Make the most of this day or you may not be forgiven for the oversight.

Now that you know what a great month June is for Holidays, get out there and enjoy these or discover some for yourself. There is always something to celebrate.
