- The California State Fair (August 21 – September 7): Held at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds, this year’s theme is “Weird, Wild, and Wacky”. Ride on the Ferris Wheel, the Merry-Go-Round, the Zipper or any of the rides at the Midway. There is a wiener dog race and a karaoke competition. See your favorite music group or artist in concert. - Sacramento’s 10th Annual Gold Rush Days (September 4 – September 7): Come to Old Sacramento and relive the wild days of the old West. Re-enactors dressed in costumes of the period will fight in shootouts on the dusty streets. There will be dancing. street dramas, pony and carriage rides, gold panning, story telling, craft making and much more. See history come alive. No charge for admission. - The 46th Annual Greek Food Festival (September 4 – September 6): try spanakopita or fasolakia at the Sacramento Convention Center.
