Christmas Devolution
A materialistic Christmas?
Making those last purchases and finishing up your holiday wish list and what not, thinking whether of not you are a good person for thinking whether you taught your kids the right meaning of Christmas? Well, maybe not while you are shopping because that list must be completed, but at other times?
Its true every one is telling us that Christmas is all about the money and shopping now-a-days. People buying that big screen TV, or that PS3 or iPod Touch or what ever. The buyers trying to make the people they are buying the gifts for happy and the gift givers acting surprised when they get their gift etc. you all know the drill. However, the bigger question is whether we have lost the true spirit of Christmas.
Experts say that Christmas is the time of year that most business is conducted in America. A total of 3 billion dollars are spent every year 7 days before Christmas. Most people say that the gifts they buy are for other people. They also say that their families are happier during this time of year because every one is on break, traveling together or visiting family (personally football for me).
Economically speaking, 3 billion dollars spent buying gifts for other people is a lot of money. People, even while working less during Christmas time, generate a massive amount of revenue. That’s ironic.
It’s a revolution that people are buying gifts for other people, so there is no selfish interest. People trying to make other people happy, people trying to visit family and friends, people trying to send post cards to let people know they care and people trying to decorate their homes are all signs of togetherness and gestures that are priceless.
“Christmas has become too materialistic”, sure. If you want to throw everything you did this year, all the people you made happy with your holiday spirit, all the time you spent with your family and friends, all the time you spent relaxing after a hard years work, by calling it a materialistic gesture, sure be my guest.

That’s quite a good article with a nice conclusion to shove in the face of everyone who says christmas is becoming too materialistic. Christmas is about showing your loved ones you care about them, and gifts are just another way of showing that, that you care about them and listen to them enough to choose something they will like, and enjoy.
