Christmas: Lucrative Business?

Described in this article is Christmas Holiday, a bit controversial, though whether it is a religious event or lucrative business.

Here comes Christmas 2010. People all over the world  welcome it, be they Christians or not.  Those who are Christians shall view Christmas as a great religious event, the Birth of Great Jesus Christ, who they believe as the Savior of the world. But, think! Was Jesus really born on this 25th day of December? Is there any written record of his birth?  Or, is it just a symbolic pride of Christians. Some people view Christmas as an expression of thanks  to the birth of a Great Man, called ‘Jesus’ or Prophet Isa bin Maryam (by our Muslim brothers). Do Christians themselves know why they have to celebrate Christmas? Do they know the true meaning of Christmas?

Well, let us start by seeing the fact that Christmas belongs to everyone, Christians and non-Christians alike. For Christians, they should know the origin of Christmas; for non-Christians, at least they enjoy the holiday, meaning free from the daily routines of work. For devoted Christians, Christmas has become very special, a moment where they can share the joy of love together–to forgive each other. For them, it is a special pride to have Jesus Christ, the savior. What if he hadn’t been born on earth?

Let us have a look at the other side of Christmas. Christmas contributes to the welfare of people. Producers of Christmas Trees may enjoy their lucrative business once a year. The presence of Santa Clause as a generous figure (among children?) can also generate a lot of business opportunities–selling anything relating to Santa Clause Accessories. Children must by tradition wear new clothes (another business). As a result, Christmas Sales can be found in almost every corner of shopping centers, malls, and supermarkets. We cannot stop here. Plane tickets are fully booked during this season–approaching a new year with, of course, another lucrative business. Welcome back, Christmas. We love you,.
