Christmas Shopping
Why do we Christmas Shop? Why do we put ourselves through this?
How sad it is to see the people rushing here and there.
I sit back and watch as they pursue their mission.
What are they doing? Where are they going?
Do they know? Do they care?
Some treat it as a sport, others as an adventure.
Either way, it must be the thrill that motivates them.
At times they risk their lives in this endless pursuit.
Shoppers are robbed, carjacked and they subject themselves to traffic nightmares.
Long lines, campouts, running to beat someone to the deal.
Why? Because someone has dictated to them that they must have that “hot item!”.
That “hot item” maybe almost impossible to get in the store . They are ingenious, though.
They will go on online and pay double the price just to win the game.
And you know it is not just the gifts, lets not forget the decorations, the gift wrapping and the greeting cards and the postage. What about all the food!! Spend -spend -spend, that is what it is all about, is it not?
Guess what, the day after Christmas, we can start filling up the landfills with all the cardboard boxes and gift-wrapping, we can start watching the mail for the credit card bills to start rolling in. Yeah, that is what it’s all about.

How true! Great article! Society has gotten that we put so much stress on ourselves to make Christmas perfect. Most of the time people are so stressed out they are annoyed and unpleasant. Sometimes, though, the goodness shines through and you meet nice people and feel good. A lot of us are trying, but it’s not easy. We need to be thankful for what we have, particularly our family, friends and health. Those are the true gifts.
