Commercialized Christmas
Shopping is ruining the holidays for me.
I don’t know about the rest of you but the commercialization of Christmas has completely ruined the holiday for me.
I remember a time when Christmas did not start until the day after Thanksgiving. I was so excited to be able to go out after Thanksgiving and see the holiday spirit unfold before my eyes. It was such an excititng time to know that Chirstmas would soon be here with so much to look forward to.
Now, Christmas starts in August. We have yet to see Halloween or Thanksgiving and all the stores are set up for Christmas. I am so tired of seeing Christmas for half of the year that the excitement of the holildays has just escaped me.
I try now to focus on what Christmas is really about. My salvation.
I refuse to go shopping and endorse this mad rage to spend spend spend. So I have resorted tom aking homemade gifts the last 2 years and will do so again this year.
I have the holiday spirit in my heart itching to get out. Now if the stores would just stop shoving it down my through for 5 months, I may be able to be more excited.
Chirstmas has lost its meaning in the commercial world, our children have become so greedy with needing the next best thing advertised…
This year, Christmas in our home will be different. It will hold all the meaning it is supposed to and hopefully start a new tradition. De-commercialized Christmas will stay with us forever.
