Ditch Your Resolutions Try Something New for 2012
New Years resolutions are almost always made to be broken. For 2012 try something new. Meaning let your resolution be to try something that you have never done before. Try something new for 2012.
We all endeavor to have a better year than the previous one, at least that’s usually my goal. We make a list of things that we resolve to do, like lose weight, stop smoking or eat better. We begin the new year with the greatest of intentions, then, by the middle of January we reverting to our old ways.
This year, let’s try something new. Instead of the usual New Year’s resolution, let’s resolve to try something new; something that we have never done before. For example, go somewhere that you have never gone before. It doesn’t have to be out side of your city or state, just a place you haven’t been.
Here is a something new list to help get you started:
- Get acquainted with a neighbor; invite them to dinner for the first time or take them a cake or card.
- Eat a vegetable that you have never tasted. For me, it’s Brussels sprouts and egg plant, just to name a few.
- Cook a dish that you have never cooked before.
- Tackle a sport that you have never played.
- Go to an opera, instead of a movie or play.
- Take a class in a subject that you aren’t familiar with.
- Start a hobby.
- Take a helicopter ride.
- Go to the roof of the highest building in your city, if it’s allowed. Don’t get arrested, that’s not a first you want.
- Take a cruise, if you have never been on one.
- Eat a flavor ice cream that you have never tasted.
- Give a random stranger $5, and tell them to have lunch on you. It’ll work if they budget.
These are just a few things that you can add to your something new in 2012 list. What are some things that you have never done, what new things do you want to try?

I’m having a very hard time leaving a comment. Too many pop-ups and glitches. I hope it goes through this time. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? That’s exactly what I was thinking this week. No more resolutions for me, instead I’m going to start more things out my comfort zone. Good list.

This is a creative list of resolutions. I always try to do something new, but I do not always succeed. Hopefully this year will be better. I wish you all of the luck in the new year.

As I wrote in one of my latest articles, New Year resolutions are meant to last in the first week of Jan. I never do it. but on the contrary, I think of projects. right, I may not put into practice straightaway, but only when they’re ripe enough in my mind. For this year I’ve two very dear ones and it’ll my work for few months, i think. Have a good one1 Cheers!

Nice thoughts! We all pick the same resolutions and bomb at them every year anyway. Why not try something new?
