Easter Basket Treats
Traditional Easter Baskets could be a thing of the past. Candy and treats are becoming the enemies of our nation evidenced by the rise of Childhood Diabetes. Ready for something new and less traditional?
Easter is around the corner and most parents are thinking about the great chocolates, marshmallow treats and jelly beans that they can stuff into that tradition Easter Basket.
Childhood diabetes is on the rise and many complain that kids eat too much junk food. Would you be willing to try a new approach to the traditional Easter Basket?
Children love treats almost as much as they like getting special favors. Most children these days have to work for their allowance. It might mean making their bed every morning or helping with dinner by setting the table. Pet care is another chore that gets figured in. So there we have a super start for our new basket idea.
Buy some plastic eggs that open. In some of the eggs, put the equivalent of 25% of the child’s allowance. In some other eggs, place some vouchers for favors.
1.”One night off dish duty”
2.”One day without pet chores”
3.”One day free morning bed making”
4.”One night your chosen menu…must give notice”
5.”One late, late night to watch a movie at home on Friday”
6.”One time to chose a family movie”
The favors can be anything within reason without spending money. Chores are really an important part of family life and growing up to respect responsibilities. Cashing in the favors can be a terrific spring treat for the Easter Basket.
