Easy Halloween Cupcake Ideas

Greet guests with these silly, scary, and sweet cupcake combinations.  The designs are sure to impress goblins and ghouls young and old who visit your home this Halloween.

Pumpkin Patch and Black Cats

Orange and green icing combines to transform chocolate cupcakes into mini pumpkins.  Use licorice strands to add contours or lines to each pumpkin, with green icing adding a leaf and curly-Q stem at the top.  Chocolate icing or bits of chocolate wafer can outline the eyes, nose, and grinning mouth of your Jack o’ Lantern goodies.

Use chocolate icing to turn cupcakes into witchy black cats for Halloween night.  Licorice whiskers and chocolate triangles cut from a candy bar add sweet features; while green M & M’s and an upside-down pink sweet tart heart can create the eyes and nose for each kitty.

“Rest in Peace” Cupcakes

Create a spooky graveyard of chocolate or lemony cupcakes use chocolate icing and crushed Oreos to create the mounded earth for graves.  Pipe a spooky “R.I.P.” on chocolate or vanilla sandwich cookies using a tube of prepackaged icing, then stick a cookie in each cupcake’s “dirt” before offering them to guests.

Halloween Harvest Moons and Stars

Coat the top of chocolate or white cupcakes with yellow or white icing; then use a tube of black or chocolate icing to pipe eyes, a nose, and a mouth on each one.  The finer the tip, the more delicate the features iced onto each cupcake; use thin strands of licorice to form other features — like facial lines, eyebrows, even a wide grinning mouth. 

Cover others with chocolate icing and pipe a sky full of Halloween stars using a tube of yellow icing.  For cloud and bats combination, add sweet powdered sugar sprinkled in a cloud shape and some flitting “bats” made from thin licorice strips folded in a “V” shape
