Egg Hunt Tips for Easter

Setting up and Easter egg hunt.

Each year Easter comes and brings us a fun Spring day. Kids look forward to the Easter egg hunt and its treats, of course, that the Easter bunny leaves. When you are the “Easter bunny”, it can be overwhelming, depending on how many children you’re having, what to actually put in the eggs and where to hide them etc…Below find some tips to make your Easter egg hunt much easier.

1) You need to decide how many eggs you want each child to have – the number of eggs should be the same amount for each child. An even number like 8 10 or 14 works well.

2) Make sure to pick a specific color egg for each child so there is no confusion who gets which eggs. You can even write their name on them with a colorful marker.

3) Try to use clear tape to seal the sides – it will prevent candy or trinkets from falling out of the egg which happens quite a bit.

4) The eggs can be filled with almost anything, size permitting. Candy is the obvious choice, but the Dollar store also has lots of small trinkets like tattoos or stampers that can fit in the eggs.

5) Tip, if you are inside, use a room that has a lot of space – the family room or basement are great areas. Don’t make it TOO difficult – put an egg behind a pillow on the couch or in a potted plant or on a book shelf etc….

6) Tip number two, if you are outside, make sure you have a perimeter set up so kids do not travel off the beaten track. Parents should always remain outside with the kids during the hunt. Hide eggs at the end of a sliding board, at the edge of the tulip garden or on a lawn chair etc…

7) It is important to make sure the kids either have baskets or paper bags to collect their eggs in. Paper bags can be decorated by you or them to make it more fun.

8) Finally, when the hunt is over, have a place for all of the kids to sit down and sort through their eggs. Kids like to open them up together and see who got what and what they can trade etc…That is the fun part!

9) Have fun! You deserve it too! It only happens once a year.
