Excitement About Shark Week

So what is all the excitement really about?

Shark Week is the week many people look forwards to every year. Although, some people do actually dread the American holiday. Why, you may ask? Well personally I have no clue either, think about it a week dedicated to very docile animals in their most vicious state of being. I personally look forward to it every year except for the fact I only watch bits and pieces, but it’s still the most excting television event besides the Superbowl.

From 1987 until today the world’s finest week about sharks has been brought to you by the Discovery Channel and several hosts. Let’s look into a brief history of Shark Week. Pope Pius IV makes the first known Shark Week in  1560. In 1601, William Shakespeare did some sort of dramatical peice about sharks and was the English(England Not America) Shark Week. Apparently in Jun, 7 1879, Thomas Edison patented sharks and legally made it so that sharks never actually existed before this date. 1941 the “peak” of Shark Week, the week becomes a federal holiday. Strangely in 1941, sharks were brought into interacial schools to prevent segregation. One school was partially submerged so sharks and students could roam the halls together in a way. 1967…William Shatner makes out with a bullshark on Star Trek… This was Shark Week for you.

Let’s get back to the present here and talk about what really matters, Shark Week now. Not only is the Shark Week like the Superbowl, it more or less is. There are some funny commercials, a lot of fuss over watching it, decorations for it, and social gatherings. I can understand commercials and the fuss, but I really wanna know who buys the decorations and has giant parties for Shark Week. If you could find atleast two people who do do this please tell me.

Ok so this year’s Shark Week is supposed to carry on about the history of shark attacks from 1916 to recent days. I am planning on watching this year’s Shark Week, so sit back, relax, and keep your hands and feet inside the boat at all times.
