Family Christmas Traditions

   I have been married now for almost five years and one of the first things I implemented when I got married was having a Christmas tradition. During the week that led up to Christmas that first year, I was in Mexico visiting my in-laws and my wife had a great idea to hand out gifts to the homeless. So we went out to a store and bought a hundred dollars in gifts and spent Christmas Eve handing out gifts to the homeless. After that, we went to a nice hotel and spent our first Christmas together.

I had my grandmother and grandfather join us and sadly enough, my grandmother fell sick during the service but recovered soon thereafter. After the service, we went to a nice hotel and spent Christmas Eve together,

   Every Christmas, we give of ourselves to others and then I spoil my wife and now beautiful daughter in a nice hotel with a few gifts. I try to live by the philosophy that if we put others first, and then set aside time for our family, God will bless and He always has. Last year, we went into four schools in Thailand and handed out gifts and preached the gospel to over four thousand children and we are preparing the same thing for this year as we speak right now. After that, we will spend Christmas Eve down in Bangkok at a nice hotel.

   You can never do things for others and feel bad after. My family, as long as we are alive, will spend Christmas Eve and the days before, thinking and doing for others and then will take Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and spend the day as a family. For many years as a child growing up, we spent the holiday as a family and I have very warm memories from that. I love the fact even more that I can put a smile on someone’s face that I don’t even know and that they who are without can have something for the great Christmas season.
