Father’s Day is Coming Soon

Dear old Dad is having his special day soon, it’s on 21st June, which is also the longest day of the year. After that the days got shorter, so let’s go out and have fun in the evening whilst we can.

What can we buy him?  He won’t want flowers like  Mum would, what about  a dodgy tee-shirt, a fishing rod for all those lazy days he’s going to spend  in the sun. He might want some sort of model, aeroplane, boat, or whatever he is into.

If all else fails,  some beer, or wine, and a nice meal out somewhere will probably hit the spot.

Dad is a bit more than the cave man provider these days. He spends more time with his children than years ago, is not averse to changing a nappy, or looking after the children, some are even house husbands so that  mum can go out to work.

Life has changed for all of us, as there was a time when Dad was a distant figure who often came home when you were in bed, and went out before you got up. At weekends was the time when you saw him, and if you were naughty, then mum threatened to tell dad.

Isn’t it great that Dad can now have such a close relationship with his children, as they need input from both parents to be fulfilled. Happy Father’s Day Dad, and enjoy it!
