Gift Buying Guidelines for That &Ldquo;gone Green” Person Who Still Wants an Actual Gift

Are you having trouble finding the right gift for that person in your life who has “Gone Green”?
These guidelines just might help you out.

Since I am writing this in the holiday season which is a time of year when people choose to give gifts while celebrating various festivals of light let us put aside judgments about who should get gifts for a bit. One such judgment that needs to be put away is that if a person has become concerned about the various environmental systems of Planet Earth or “Gone Green” that they should no longer have the desire for any material possessions and therefore not want another gift in the lifetime. The giving and receiving of gifts is a good thing and the positive vibrations that occur when it is done right help Planet Earth a lot more than might meet the eye. Understand that material possessions are quite okay as we are having a material experience in our lives and it is the reason our spirits made the trip here.

Gift giving done right is when we think about what the core being of the other person is about and give gifts based on that knowledge. Buying for a person who has “Gone Green” may be difficult for folks who have not made that commitment. There are many factors involved in selection of gifts for Greenies. Let us explore some of the factors one needs to consider when buying a “Green” gift.

When you search for “Green” gifts you will need to look at the labels on whatever product you buy.

Here is a list of labels that you need to look for.

Not Tested on Animals, Cruelty Free, Peace and Free Range

Many if not all Greenies are concerned with the welfare of our animal cousins. Look for labels that reflect this concern for animals first and foremost. If your Greenie is also a Vegan then you will need to take special care to look for Cruelty Free Products. If the person you are buying for are not Vegan and use products where animals are in some way involved you will need to look for labels like Free Range, where animals are raised in more humane conditions, or Peace, such as Peace Silk where the silk worms are kept alive and cared for.

Made with Recycled Materials

Products made with recycled materials will be appreciated by those concerned with the health of our Planet.

Fair Trade

When we buy fair trade products it reduces many environmental offenses in that when indigenous people in sensitive ecosystems are involved in fair trade practices they have less need to commit those offenses. Empower people and they begin to care more about the planet beyond their basic needs.

Very helpful article Mark.I really don’t know many greenies! well not ones that I have to buy gifts for. This year I am not spending much at all. I am not religious and have no money, the holidays will be a time spent with family. I am baking cakes as presents though.

Mark, these tips will be helpful, I tell everyone not to buy for us, that we need nothing. That would be the best gift, but we will wind up with presents anyway, but most of them will be wearable or eatable.
