Halloween Projects

Easy Halloween project for the kids.

There is probably not a kid out there that doesn’t like Halloween. So including them into the whole decorating, and preparing of treats process is something they are sure to enjoy. Whether child’s class might be having a Halloween party, or you just want to do something with your little one to impress those trick or treaters, these popcorn hands are easy and edible fun! Getting extra ingredients is suggested, as more often than not the supplies end up getting eaten before the crafts are done.

What you will need to make your Halloween popcorn hands:

  • A Bag of candy corn .
  • A few bags of popcorn.
  • A pack of disposable plastic gloves (the thin clear kind that food industry employees use, they are only a couple of bucks for a box).
  • Either small rubber bands, twist ties or some string (to tie the bottoms of the gloves after you are finished stuffing them).
  • Few sheets of plain white printer paper.
  • Markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.
  • A pair of Scissors.
  • A stapler.

How to make your Halloween popcorn hands:

  • First have your child was his or her hands, and let them know how important this is, especially if it is a younger child.
  • Now pop a couple bags of popcorn in the microwave and put the popcorn in a big bowl so it cools quicker (we don’t want it melting the plastic gloves do we?) .
  • While the popcorn is cooling off a bit, on a nice clean surface prepare your gloves.
  • Put a two or three candy corn pieces into the bottom of the each fingertip of the glove. These will serve as the fingernails of the hand.
  • Once the popcorn is cooled off start stuffing the gloves with it, make sure each finger gets filled but do not over stuff or crush the popcorn or it wont look inviting at all!
  • Leave a bit of room at the bottom of the glove (the wrist part) so you can tie it up.
  • Since a plain tied up glove doesn’t look so nice we have to make some cuff links for the hand!

Take the printer paper and cut it into two by six inch strips.

  • Fold the paper in half so you get a two by three inch piece
  • Have your child, or yourself decorate the piece to look like a shirt cuff with buttons.
  • Staple the newly created cuff link to the bottom of the hand so it grips and covers the part that has been tied up, along with the rubber band or the string.
  • Ta da! Now that looks a lot better doesn’t it?!?!

Tips:

  • You don’t have to settle for just candy corn and popcorn, you can use Hershey’s kisses as the fingernails and you can fill the glove with chocolate chips and popcorn.
  • Adding nuts and dried fruit to the popcorn makes this edible craft a lot more colorful and healthier.
  • If you wish you can also sprinkle the popcorn with color or sparkling sugar.
