Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Mother Humor.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! On this day, each year, we dye rivers all over the country green. Many people drink green beer, dye their hair green, and prompt people to kiss by wearing green, “kiss me I’m Irish” T-shirts. With all of this talk of green, I can’t help but think of being a mother.

You see, while everyone, with the exception of my color blind brother, can see all of the afore mentioned green objects, only a mother, with her Super Mother powers, can see ALL green.

Take for example when your child has a cold. There may be dried or streaking green running down their face. No one but the Super Mother will acknowledge such green. Did you know that when you leave a sippy cup of milk in the car for days, the contents will either mirror a nasty chardonnay, or some really rank green cheese? For this story’s sake, we’ll go with the latter. Again, Super Mother’s everywhere know that neither spouse nor child can actually see this green either. And, for the “piece de resistance”, I can’t help but think of my eldest daughter, Caroline and her bout with Rotavirus. Want to see a sickness that looks like the Incredible Hulk borrowed your kid’s diaper, that’s Rotavirus. On more than one occasion during this bout, I, being the Super Mother, was the only one who could see green.

So, St. Patrick’s Day prompts us to celebrate green, the government encourages us to “Go green”, But, as a Super Mother myself, I know mom’s everywhere “Go Green” many, many, times a year! Cheers to green!
