Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas (And a Happy New Year)
It’s the Holiday season, but do we really understand the meaning and reasons we celebrate?
Christmas is tommorrow, but do we understand why we celebrate? Yes, if you are religious you can rant off a list, but do you keep those reasons in mind while you celebrate? Christmas has become nothing but commercialism at work, and lots of it.
Notice that in televised ads, the idiotic producers hint more and more at the nonexistence of Santa, ruining the holiday spirit for countless children. As Ebenezer Scrooge said, “What is Christmas but a time for paying bills for nothing?” Now, this phrase is not entirely true, as gifts bring happiness, but in this present society, paying bills is more of a theme than ever.
Break free of the traditional holiday barriers of unnecessary spending of money to bring happiness, and bring joy instead! Joy comes not from material possessions, but from the state of mind, and state of soul. These states are affected by our surroundings- not the things we see, but what we feel, spiritually. The feeling of joy comes from sensing the cheer and happiness of others around us. Keep this in mind this year, as well as next, as long as you live.
