Healthy Halloween Treats

Healthy Halloween treats that can help prevent your children from getting tooth decay.

Can you imagine Halloween without candy? Well, as you know the average child is going to want candy for Halloween instead of eating  healthy foods like, raw carrots and fresh fruit.

For those of you  who are planning to go shopping for Halloween candy, keep in mind that too much candy can cause tooth decay. Also add to your shopping list other treats like; small packages of peanuts, trail mix, small boxes raisins, sugar-free cookies, peanut butter and crackers, cheese and crackers sugar-free and  sugarless candies.

When you and your children arrive home from trick or treating you should  to take charge of of their goody bags. After emptying out their goody bags you should first check for unwrapped candies or bad fruit and treats that may have been tampered with.

Then  separate the hard and chewy candies from the non-chewy candies especially, the gummy snakes, gummy bears and caramels. The chewy candies cause the most damage because they spend more time sticking to the teeth.

So, parents! The best time for you to give your children  candy is right after they have finished eating their lunch or dinner. Because when your child eats candy with a meal it is less damaging to their teeth than to letting  them eat candy all day long. And don’t forget to remind your children to brush their teeth when they are finish eating their candy.
