High School Musical &Ndash; Five Great Destinations for Musical Students
Check out some of the world’s best festivals, studios and events for music students on tour including: Dublin, Quebec and Nashville, Tennessee.
Talent contests. They’re everywhere. America’s Got Talent, American Idol and now American X Factor. Americans flock in their thousands for the chance of standing on stage competing against thousands of others for instant fame and money.
Why not do it differently this year? Rather than throwing yourself into the often disheartening lion’s den of singing competitions, get involved in a non-competitive environment like America Sings! Coming soon to the fun-filled city of Orlando, Florida, for over twenty years this unique choral festival has brought thousands of middle and high school students into one glorious event offering a combination of music, charitable giving and community service. All groups which enter also enjoy an exclusive 20 minutes in the spotlight and the chance to join in with everyone else in a Massed Choir Finale.
You’re not just limited to one event in Orlando either. Wherever your talents lie, orchestra, band, parades or choral, take a look at these great excuses for your next vacation, sorry, I meant, educational class tours:-.
St Patrick’s Day Parade, Dublin, Ireland
If you’re quick there may still be time to take part in this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade through the streets of Dublin. The famous welcome in the Irish capital is unmatched. No St Patrick’s Day vacation would be complete without a trip to the famous St Patrick’s Cathedral, erected on the site where the legendary St Patrick struck the ground to create a well for baptisms to take place. There’s also Dublin Castle and the four hundred year old Trinity College. And don’t forget to visit the Guinness brewery – for observation purposes only you understand. If you miss it, start planning for next year in advance – or head out to the St Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City instead.
National Performing Arts – the Bahamas
Now here’s one that’s impossible to turn down; a Caribbean cruise to a theater festival in the Bahamas, or to give it its official title, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Hone your drama skills in specialized acting workshops covering vocal and audition techniques and attend private feedback clinics under the auspices of theater’s top professionals. You’ll even get the chance to perform for the ship’s passengers. While you’re ‘resting’ (everyone needs some time out) enjoy a trip to the vibrant capital city of Nassau or maybe you’d prefer to chill out at Coco Cay – 140 acres of gleaming white sandy beaches near Great Harbor Cay. It’s a tough call, but someone’s got to do it.
