Horrible Incidents That Occurred on Valentine’s Day

February 14 is supposedly a happy day because it’s internationally celebrated as hearts day, love day or popularly known as Valentine’s Day.

It is the celebration of love and affection between intimate companions but for others it’s a horrific day, a day of terror and for some it would mean death.

India

The Hindu Fundamentalists Bajrang Daland the Shiv Sena explicitly discouraged the celebration of Valentine’s Day. These fundamentalists opposed Valentine’s Day because they consider it as ‘cultural pollution from the west’. Beginning in the year 2001, specifically in Mumbai, India, clashes between people dealing with Valentine’s Day items and fanatic Shiv Sena members occurred. People are warned not to violate this belief or they will face harsh punishment from baton-holding brigands of Shiv Sena patrolling public places like parks chasing people who are holding hands and suspected lovers. Couples found in parks and public places in many parts of south India are immediately forced to marry on the spot by the Shiv Sena and other similar activists.

Saudi Arabia

In 2002, religious police of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia banned the selling of any Valentine’s Day related items.
